Peaks and Troughs presents contemporary New Zealand photography featuring work by Conor Clarke alongside 23 invited artists. Clarke's new body of work—featuring simulations of landscape and everyday objects arranged along 12 stations—is accompanied by contributions from leading Aotearoa photographers including Mark Adams, Edith Amituanai, Chris Corson-Scott, Solomon Mortimer, Zahra Killen-Chance, Haru Sameshima, Jae Hoon Lee, and Tim Veling, among others. The exhibition showcases diverse photographic approaches: from delicate studies of light and form to panoramic landscapes, intimate photograms, and documentary work. Notable contributions include John Collie's panoramic composites from Christchurch's red zone, Roberta Thornley's atmospheric photographs, Greta Anderson's still-life work, and Tia Ranginui's figurative pieces. Clarke's images present mountains and everyday scenes as constructed fictions, one step removed from reality.
