Aaron Crothers is a Sydney-based sculptor, renowned for his bold geometric forms. Working primarily with large-scale ceramics, Crothers draws inspiration from twentieth century Brutalist architecture. Each sculpture begins as a small plasticine maquette before being translated into a full-scale clay form. Once the clay reaches the leather-hard stage, the work is carefully cut apart, hollowed, and reassembled. This process of reassembly creates complex, multifaceted geometric interiors that cast dramatic shadows, reinforcing the work's Brutalist aesthetic.
