Good fortune to a flame

The Commercial presents Good fortune to a flame, curated by Mitch Cairns, an exhibition of new and recent painting by Aldo Iacobelli, Bill Hawkins and Elizabeth Pulie. The exhibition explores 'the painter's reach', a discursive model of painting dependent upon visual literacy informed by the levelling of historical painterly approaches. The work is stylistically varied, presenting a permissive model of abundance that prefers broad way-finding methods. At its best, the art of 'the painter's reach' is wholly sincere.
