This exhibition explores ideas of mortality and identity, investigating relationships between earthly things and the permanence of change. Working with collage, printmaking, embroidery, and found materials, Parker Smith combines historic and contemporary imagery—both found and self-created—to examine the human encounter with nature in a changing landscape. Transformations emerge through the act of making itself, which becomes a repair and physical conversation with memory and change. Rather than fixing things in place, the work leans into the truth that nothing holds forever. Through complex layering, images and materials form ambiguities and contradictions that create new narratives and dialogues.
