HOLOCENE examines convergence points between constructed civilization and planetary erosion, emphasizing the instability of form, space, and environment. Kien Situ's new body of work continues his research into dislocated material narratives and an invented composite he terms 'multi-dimensional matter.' Central to his practice remains his interrogation of Chinese Mo Ink, fusing geological elements spanning ancient, modern, futuristic, and spiritual realms. The work synthesizes Chinese Mò ink, gypsum/concrete, titanium, and incense ash with reincarnated fragments of old artworks, embodying accumulated time across epochs and environments. The exhibition features works from Situ's recent contribution to the Venice Architecture Biennale 2025, including Shanshui (Prophecy), a ruptured spherical landscape that reimagines planetary form into interior terrain. The work addresses cultural displacement, ecological degradation, and civilizational upheaval, adopting different personalities as it is rotated. Rather than depicting destruction alone, Shanshui (Prophecy) proposes new material futures where past and future, destruction and renewal, are held in simultaneous tension.
