In March 2025, Marina Strocchi returned to Italy for the first time in nineteen years to visit her father's family in the Ravenna region of Emilia-Romagna. Invited to create a mural for the community, she researched the area and discovered that the canal had long been central to village life. This body of work continues from the mural in Granarolo Faentino while expanding to include her time in Bologna. The lowlands—la pianura—is a flat landscape shaped over centuries by an intricate network of canals built to drain marshland and irrigate surrounding fields.
