The sky continues beneath our feet uses Passage as a 'portal' to non-ordinary states of understanding. Gleave divides the gallery by concealing 80% of the space with a polycarbonate stud wall, mirroring the fact that 80% of all matter in the universe is dark matter—invisible yet necessary to explain the behaviour of celestial bodies. Behind the wall exists Gleave's constructed universe: glitter, inflated star balloons, and foam that coexist in a paradoxical state. The polycarbonate wall creates a hazy 2D grid, and light filters through as viewers peer through lenticular distortions. The installation continuously glows for 45 days, with air slowly leaking from the balloons over time.
