Shit Flowers transforms the gallery into a digestive theatre. At its centre, grey objects topped with selfie lights and draped in plastic bags glow like spectral blooms. Drawing on the story of a zinnia flower bloomed aboard the International Space Station in 2016—which thrived only when astronaut Scott Kelly cared for it through instinct rather than protocol—the work explores care as resistance and what we hold onto to stay human. Dwyer's daughter Olive performs within the installation, introducing a shifting human element that alters how the work is encountered. The gallery becomes a sealed ecosystem where waste cycles back, and meaning remains suspended between surrender and insistence, ruin and renewal.
