Mirdidingkingathi Juwarnda Sally Gabori and Judy Ledgerwood

This exhibition of Mirdidingkingathi Juwarnda Sally Gabori and Judy Ledgerwood continues 1301SW's series of paired exhibitions. Presentations talking to similarities and differences in material, time, place, atmosphere, concept and culture. Exhibited throughout our Sydney gallery, a significant recent body of paintings by Ledgerwood are presented with three paintings by Gabori from 2009. Contrasting and complementary, here two bodies of work housed within the label of abstraction emerge with a formal similarity, yet coming from radically different cultural systems, revealing how inadequate that category can be.
