Visions of the Harbour celebrates the diverse narratives that shape Sydney Harbour including its First Nations significance, ecological diversity, and ongoing role as a site of creative inspiration. Presented on Gadigal and Birrabirragal land in a former 19th-century harbourfront home, now repurposed as a contemporary community gallery, the exhibition brings together artists, scientists, and storytellers reflecting on the cultural and environmental life of the harbour and its tributaries.
Spanning painting, installation, weaving, ceramics, performance, photography, and marine science, the exhibition brings together both traditional and experimental practices of Sydney-based creatives to explore the harbour as a site of exchange, extraction, and resilience. The exhibition extends its discussion beyond Sydney Harbour, tracing connections to surrounding waterways including the Cooks River, the Parramatta River, and other vital aquatic systems.
