Haus Door references spiritual entities and figures in tales of sickness and health from Papua New Guinea's highlands. The exhibition presents three shield paintings collectively titled Crown, which function as both portraits and sculptural objects revealing the dual nature of protection and vulnerability. The shields—or 'kuman' in the Yuri language—represent the self and act as optical weapons and banners of defence. Bridgeman combines the shields with recent explorations in tape painting, using this medium to expand his studies into architectural interventions. The shields depict the Glass Man, the Masalai spirit, and the Botol Man, each embodying different aspects of spiritual protection and transformation.
