'Moments of Still' is a quiet meditation on everyday scenes and subjects, informed by a nostalgic desire to capture and preserve the ephemeral. This body of work focuses on the unique architecture and coastlines of Sydney, with particular attention to intersections and transitions where the built and natural environment intertwine, figures captured candidly within the landscape, seasonal foliage, and fleeting states of light and shadow. The artist employs a careful combination of intricate detail and loose, intuitive mark making to suggest both physicality and feeling, using painterly realism mostly truthful to form, light and colour. The work approaches all genres as if they are a portrait.
