Tharr yigin – meaning Of mine, my story in Marri Dan language – presents a new series of paintings by senior Ngan'gikurrungurr artist Regina Pilawuk Wilson. Working on vast planes of Belgian linen, Wilson channels her mastery of traditional weaving into paint. Her colour-soaked compositions feature rhythmic movement that references the wupun (sun mats) traditionally woven by women of Peppimenarti, where Wilson has lived and worked since co-founding the community in 1973. The paintings draw on generations-spanning weaving traditions and showcase an expanded palette of warm and vivid pinks and oranges. A significant new chapter in the career of one of Australia's greatest living artists, this is Wilson's first exhibition in more than 12 months and features some of her most ambitiously scaled works to date.
